MPS-Quality

Disposing of clear and reliable product information is a must for many traders. They must also account for the purchased flowers or plants to retailers. With MPS-Quality you give your clients confidence that your products satisfy the ever-increasingly stringent quality requirements.

The right quality and maximum reliability

As a business you want a grasp of your business processes and to see a visible improvement in their quality. This can be done with MPS-Quality. You first start with a description of a number of processes such as purchasing, harvesting, sorting and packaging. Subjects such as sales, customer satisfaction and shelf life tests are also covered in the manual. After these descriptions have been validated against the conditions, you get down to work for the first three months. And when it appears that registration works properly, the audit can be carried out and you become an accredited MPS supplier.

Because MPS-Quality is based on the uniformity of processes, the certificate is highly suitable for co-operating companies such as (growers) associations and BVs.

Advantages

- Based on specific requirements for the floriculture sector
- Optimised operations
- Visible improvement of company quality

Useful tips for MPS-Quality certification

Sometimes MPS personnel who carry out audits discover that requirements from the certification scheme are insufficiently or not achieved. This has the consequence that the audit cannot be fully completed. Hence we offer you a number of useful tips below.

Internal audits
The points below must be shown to have been completed prior to the audit:

  • For point 1.1.2 A (improvement management) it is shown that the results of the controls are registered on the basis of a check list. A blank MPS-Quality check list is used for this (see below).
  • The results of these internal controls must also be registered. An internal audit must demonstrably be carried out per process for this. In practice this often does not take place as it should. The process must also be recorded when there are no special circumstances.
  • The internal audit is often performed by the person who him/herself is responsible for the work to be controlled. This is not the intention. See the certification scheme conditions.
  • Before you request an audit for the MPS-Quality certificate, you must work for at least three months according to the conditions. Prior to the audit you must also carry out internal controls, a customer satisfaction study and a supplier assessment.

If one or a number of these tasks has not been completed at the start of the audit the audit is suspended. Seeing as the remaining time had already been put aside for the auditor, the costs of the audit are in this case on-charged to you.

Improvement management
According to the certification scheme conditions the quality manual must be up to date and approved. Unfortunately, sometimes this approval does not seem to have taken place in the correct way. So put your initials on each page.

Processing complaints
There are companies who receive few complaints. Or are complaints then not properly registered? Auditors often observe that stricter complaint processing is required, but are unable to demonstrate this. So, the submitter of the complaint must have the opportunity to forward it to a 'Central Complaints Office'. You then have insight into the number of complaints and their nature. During audits it is regularly observed that this part has not yet been included in the manual.
