What is ISO 9001:2008?
ISO 9001:2008 is an internationally recognised quality mark, and therefore has the same content and meaning all over the world. ISO 9001:2008 describes processes and procedures which take place within a company. Operational activities are thus perfected. MPS participants can apply for ISO 9001:2008 alongside their ordinary registration. Areas covered by ISO 9001:2008 are:
- A good and workable policy plan with clear objectives;
- Quality checks (for example, the company asks itself the question "do I supply the customer with a good product") ;
- Qualified staff;
- Internal communications (how does communication take place within the company);
- Description of all processes within the company;
- Continuous checks (continuous checks make the areas for improvement visible).
The certification process
The certification process consists of the following elements:
Desk audit
A written assessment will be carried out of whether the company complies with the standard on the basis of the documents provided by you. A written report on the findings will be supplied. Any shortcomings can be corrected by the company before the company audit takes place.
Company audit
An audit is schedule at the company in consultation with you. The ISO 9001:2008 guidelines are checked on site during this audit. The availability of the management and the employees and the provision of the information required to carry out the audit is arranged with the company in advance. After the audit the participants receive a report setting out the findings. Should corrective measures be required following an audit which necessitate a follow-up audit, a separate charge will be made for this work.
Reassessment (annual)
The ISO 9001:2008 certificate is valid for three years from the date of issue. During this time an annual reassessment is carried out at the company in order to check that the company still complies with the stipulated requirements.
Issuing the certificate
Following successful completion of the audit, your company will receive the ISO 9001:2008 certificate.

If you want to know what standards your company must meet in order to achieve the ISO 9001:2008 certificate, these can be ordered from the Nederlands Normalisatie Instituut [Netherlands Standardisation Institute], www.nen.nl.
How do you apply for ISO 9001:2008?
If you are interested in the ISO 9001:2008 quality system, you can request a documentation pack from the MPS service line. Send them an e-mail at info@my-mps.com or call +31 174 - 615 715. As soon as the completed forms are in MPS's possession, a quote will be sent out based on the information in the application. After approval of the quote by you, an agreement will be drawn up. By signing the agreement you declare that you accept the requirements laid down for the ISO 9001:2008 certificate.
