Last month, MPS, AgriQ and Groeinet launched the sustainability certificate MPS-Fruit & Vegetables. This certification scheme contains requirements in the areas of sustainability, reliability, hygiene and transparency. MPS-Fruit & Vegetables meets the growers’ needs for improved management instruments and growing produce sustainably. MPS-Fruit & Vegetables also allows them to fully meet the demands of chain stores and retail trade with respect to food safety and hygiene. Growers who achieve the highest scores on all themes are allowed to carry the top label Vita Certa.

Yesterday it was announced that growers’ association Prominent is the first association to start using MPS-Fruit & Vegetables with seven of its members. The companies were able to familiarize themselves with this certification scheme as part of a pilot project and will now be introducing the scheme's requirements in their business processes. Richard Hartensveld, Kwekerij De Kabel, said: "After the first test, we appeared to have a good basis for obtaining the top label Vita Certa within the foreseeable future".
